The records division of the Court Clerk's Office is located on the south side of the 1st floor of the Johnson County Courthouse.  It is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Phone number: (913) 715-3480

Court records are subject to the Open Records Act, K.S.A. 45-215, et. seq.  The Kansas Judicial Branch has an on-line guide to "Guide To The Open Records Act" that answers common questions with respect to court records.

Public access is available online or through computers are available at the courthouse via a name search or by case number.  Case files are computer indexed back to 1980.  Searches on cases prior to 1980 will require a pre-payment of $12.00 (no personal checks accepted).

Requests for criminal record searches for employment, credit, or the like will be referred to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, (785) 296-8200 (ask for Records Department).

No district court employee may conduct a search which requires making legal determination such as whether a judgment is still current or that a lien exists per K.S.A 20-3133.
