<--- Previous Rule or Next Rule ---> CIVIL RULE NO. 24 GRASP 1. Required Attendance. All parents in domestic relations actions in which there are minor children shall be required to attend an educational class on "General Responsibilities as Separating Parents" (GRASP) within 60 days of service of process or the entry of an appearance by the respondent. No case shall proceed to final hearing until the parties have complied with this rule, unless attendance is waived by the court. 2. Time, Place and Cost. The class will be conducted by the Johnson County Mental Health Center. The Mental Health Center shall designate a regularly scheduled place and time for the classes and shall provide the schedule to the court. Each parent shall be responsible for contacting the Mental Health Center regarding attendance, location, and time of the class and shall be responsible for the charges for the class. This expense may be taxed as costs in the action in the discretion of the court. 3. Attendance in Connection with Post-trial Motions. Class attendance may also be required in connection with motions for post-divorce relief by order of the court. 4. Form of Order. Each temporary order in domestic relations actions concerning minor children shall contain substantially the following provisions: IT IS FURTHER ORDERED that it is in the best interests of the minor children of the parties to this action that the parents attend one educational class on General Responsibilities as Separating Parents (GRASP) within 60 days of service of process or the entry of an appearance by the respondent. The classes will be conducted by the Johnson County Mental Health Center at a time and place to be set by the Johnson County Mental Health Center. The parents shall be responsible for contacting the Johnson County Mental Health Center regarding attendance, location, and time of the class and shall pay the charges for the class. The expense may be taxed as costs in the action by the court. An order for post-divorce attendance at GRASP shall contain substantially the same provisions. 5. Certificate of Attendance. The parties will be required to sign a Certificate of Attendance that will be filed with the clerk of the court.
