Juvenile Night Light Program

Night Light is a program operated by Juvenile Court Services. Juveniles on probation are subject to searches as directed by a Court Services Officer (CSO). CSO’s also have the authority to visit juveniles at home, school, work, or elsewhere. The program consists of CSO’s teaming up with officers from local police departments and the sheriff’s office to conduct visits during nontraditional work hours which include:

  • Home visits
  • Employment visits
  • School visits
  • "Hot zone visits"

During these visits, the juvenile’s person and property, including their room in the residence, is subject to search by the CSO and law enforcement officer. CSO’s use the Night Light Program to:

  • meet parents,
  • to obtain information regarding a juvenile's probation, and
  • to conduct a search of the juvenile’s room.

Night Light visits are unannounced and can take place on any day of the week, usually between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 10:00 P.M.

If you have questions regarding the Night Light Program, please call (913) 715-7400.
