Higher Ground

Higher Ground is a court-ordered skill-based parent education program for high conflict families which teaches:

  • how ongoing conflict between parents and repeated court involvement hurts children.
  • how to develop a child and future focused mindset and set realistic expectations as separated parents.
  • how to respect each other's differences and communicate effectively.
  • methods to defuse conflict, manage emotions and make mutual decisions for the benefit of your children.

Eligibility:  A court order is required.  Parents must provide a copy of the order to Court Services to register for the program.

Cost: $150 per parent which includes written materials and parent workbooks, presentations with videos and expert guest speakers, small group discussion and skill practice with large group debriefing.  The fee must be paid to the District Court Trustee by cash, money order, or debit/credit cards only.  You must make your payment in person to: District Court Trustee, 588 E. Santa Fe, Suite 3000, Olathe, KS 66061.

Time & Location:  One mandatory orientation (held on the first Wednesday of each month at 4:30 pm and the third Thursday of each month at 12:00 pm) and 5 sessions of 2 ½ hours every other Tuesday evening from 5:15 to 7:15 pm according to the class schedule. All classes and orientations are held at Johnson County Court Services, 588 E. Santa Fe, Suite 4000, Olathe, KS
