Higher Ground

Higher Ground is a court-ordered skill-based parent education program for high conflict families which teaches:

  • how ongoing conflict between parents and repeated court involvement hurts children.
  • how to develop a child and future focused mindset and set realistic expectations as separated parents.
  • how to respect each other's differences and communicate effectively.
  • methods to defuse conflict, manage emotions and make mutual decisions for the benefit of your children.

Eligibility:  A court order is required.  Parents must provide a copy of the order to Court Services to register for the program.

Cost: $150 per parent which includes written materials and parent workbooks, presentations with videos and expert guest speakers, small group discussion and skill practice with large group debriefing.  The fee must be paid to the District Court Trustee by check or money order.  You may mail payment to:  District Court Trustee, PO Box 760, Olathe, KS 66051, or you may make payment at the Trustee's Offices at the Courthouse in Olathe.

Time & Location:  1 orientation and 5 sessions of 2 ΒΌ hours usually on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesday evenings each month from 5:15-7:15pm at Johnson County Court Services, 18505 W. 119th St, Olathe.
