Court Administration
The Office of Court Administration functions primarily as the business manager for the Tenth Judicial District.  The Court Administrator oversees all of the non-judicial personnel (non-judges).  This includes all of the employees of:
  • The Clerk of the District Court
  • Court Services Department
  • Official Court Reporters
  • Law Clerks
  • The District Court Trustee Office

Not included are judges, judge pro tems, Trustee Hearing Officers and the confidential employees of judges.

The Court Administrator’s Office coordinates with the Office of Judicial Administration, the managerial arm of the Kansas Supreme Court, and with Johnson County government regarding non-judicial personnel.   See Career Opportunities for current job listings available in the Tenth Judicial District.

In addition to the personnel, the Office of Court Administration also: 

  • Oversees budgets assigned to the unified district court
  • Payments to vendors
  • Assists the Judges’ Budget Committee & Executive Committee
  • Assists the Judges En Banc in budget planning, forecasting, expenditures and revenues.  

The Office of Court Administration also serves as the manager of a number of state and federal grants awarded to the Tenth Judicial District.  Attorneys appointed by the district court to represent juvenile offenders, children in need of care, indigent adults charged with misdemeanor offenses, or civil contempt are paid through the Office of Court Administration.  See Voucher for more detailed information.

Jury management is also a function of the Office of Court Administration.  This management includes the coordination with the various divisions of the District Court to insure qualified citizens of Johnson County are present on a scheduled date to serve as jurors.  Following said service, Court Administration also is responsible for the payment of the daily allowance and mileage to and from the Court House.  See Information for Jurors for more detailed information.
