Volunteer
Application Process
There are several steps involved in becoming a volunteer for the Johnson County
Juvenile Services Division. Due to the safety and security issues present when
working in the Juvenile Detention Center, or with juvenile offenders in one of our Field
Services, we provide extensive training and thorough background checks before allowing
individuals to volunteer. Below are the steps involved in becoming a volunteer.
- Contact Mistie Roberts at 913-764-7411 and schedule a time
to complete a Volunteer Training Academy.
- Complete the Volunteer Training Academy and receive an application packet.
- We will review your application and conduct a KBI
criminal Background investigation. It should be noted that a criminal record does not
automatically disqualify an individual as a volunteer, and will be considered on a case by
case basis.
- Upon administrative approval, you will be notified that your application has been
approved. You will then need to design your program in coordination with the Activities
Coordinator. If you are joining an already existing program, you will need to schedule a
time to observe that program prior to participating.
- The final phase is the development of a schedule that will fit your needs as well as
those of the division you are volunteering for.
If you have any additional questions please contact Mistie Roberts,
Activities Coordinator at (913) 764-7411. |
