Juvenile Detention Center

The Juvenile Detention Center (JDC), located in Olathe, KS, is a 72-bed facility that houses juveniles from age 11 to 17.  JDC is a secure youth detention center which is used by the Juvenile Court System to hold detained juveniles who are awaiting detention hearings, placement into juvenile field services, placement into another juvenile correctional facility or release back to legal guardians.   JDC provides to all of the juveniles housed at the facility:

• Onsite medical care
• Visitation schedules
• Mail privileges
• Education

Education is administered by the Olathe School District (USD 233), and all credits accrued while in the facility are transferred to the school in which the juvenile is currently enrolled. JDC has been accredited by the American Correction Association since August, 1999 and is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
