Adult House Arrest Initiation Process

House Arrest offers the Courts and referring entities a alternative to incarceration, by requiring an offender to be detained within their home, versus a state or local correctional facility. Courts may use this valuable sentencing option as a condition of bond, a part of the offender's probation, or as a result of an offender's violation of probation or Court orders.

The House Arrest Department works in conjunction with many various governmental and community agencies. House Arrest is an alternative not only used by the District Court, but also by:

  • Municipalities
  • State Parole
  • Court Services
  • Intensive Supervision
  • Residential Center, as part of the Conditional Release phase

Courts, probation officers, parole officers, and neighboring jurisdictions can utilize Johnson County House Arrest:

  • As a means of effective offender management
  • In cases of offender noncompliance with traditional supervision
  • As a way to address behaviors detrimental not only to the offender, but to the community as well.

Municipal and traffic offenders must complete a House Arrest Assessment procedure, to be considered for program placement. Attorneys are provided an Attorney Referral Letter, outlining the referral process. The offender’s Attorney also provides a House Arrest Referral Form, to begin the assessment process.
